Sakura Hidden Spots, Even Locals Do Not Know

Spring in Japan is the best season of the year in Japan. The frozen winter temperatures slowly begin to fade to a warmer and brighter day, but best of all, cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom all over Japan!

Locals and tourists flock to the park to see the cherry blossoms directly. But as tourism increases every year, many parks become very crowded even though it would be nice to see a crowd of people who enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms, though there may be others who want tranquility while enjoying cherry blossoms. So this time we will share information about the location of hidden cherry blossoms, even the local inhabitants do not yet know!

1) Kitanomaru Park

Not surprisingly, some of the best cherry trees are planted around the Imperial Palace. Chidori-ga-fuchi Park is the most visited one of the most popular parks where tourists and locals come to admire the beautiful pink foliage. This place can be very crowded, but if you want to get past the moat and walk a little further, you can find Kitanomaru Park.

Kitanomaru Park is located on the other side of Chidori-ga-fuchi Park and has over 300 cherry trees planted in it. It is a surprise that not many people come to this park, while you will collide elbows while taking photos in the Chidori-ga-fuchi park.

2) University of Tokyo Komaba Campus

Many Tokyo universities have cherry trees planted around the campus gate, attracting new students to enter the university.

One of those campuses is the University of Tokyo's Komaba campus, which has some of the most beautiful cherry trees in Tokyo and although the university is popular, not many people visit it. One of the reasons is the distance from the main station. Accessible from Shibuya station which is only 2 stations. Here you can picnic with family and enjoy cherry blossoms.

3) Shinjuku Gyoen

This one might come as a surprise, as Shinjuku Gyoen is one of the biggest Tokyo landmarks. And surely enough, there are many people that take out to the site to enjoy the 1300 sakura trees, but the site is so huge that you wouldn’t really be bothered by the number of people there. One of the reasons Shinjuku Gyoen is not as popular as it should be, is because you need to pay 200yen (50yen for kids) to enter it, and you can’t bring alcohol into the ground.

So, the visitors are generally well mannered (not that the people in other places are bad) and they are there purely to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
